6 days Listikot Trek

Day 1  Kathmandu – Jalbire (Aprox.1,000m)
It is a 3-hour nice scenic drive with mountain views to get to Balephi and another 2 hours offroad to Jalbiri. Jalbire is a nice newari village, which is situated at 1,000m. One this day you can learn about Newari culture and see the Hindu temple of Lord Vishnu. We camp in the village.

Day 2  Jalbiri – Chanaute (Aprox.1,200m)
It is about 4 hrs level walking to Chanaute. On this day you will pass through low hill scenery and small Tamang villages. Chanaute is a small Braman and Chettri village. When you reach Chanaute you are going to camp by the school of Chanaute. The camp side has nice mountain views.

Day 3  Chanaute – Khani Gaon (Aprox. 2,100m)
It is a six-hour walk from Chanaute to Khani Gaon. On this day you will be passing through nice villages and visit a local school. Khani Gaon is a Newari village, Khani means “source of mines” and Gaon means “village”. In the middle of 18th century, before Nepal was united, there was a flight between the kingdoms of Gorkha and Bhaktapur. The people of Bhaktapur came to this place to run from the war and they settled here.

Day 4  Khani gaon – River side (Aprox. 2,200m)
It’s about 4-5 hrs walking to our campsite on the side of the river. We walk uphill for about 2 hrs through forest and 2 ½ hrs down hill through sherpa villages to the riverside. On the way there are beautiful snow peak views.

Day 5  River side – Listikot (Approx 1,500m) – 5-6 hrs
It’s steep up hill walk for about 2 ½ hrs to a village called Chhagam. Chhagam is a sherpa village with a big nunnery, where nuns from Tibet settled after Tibet was taken over by the Chinese. From Chhagam we trek gradual down hill walk for about 3 hrs to Listikot, another nice village with Hindu and Buddhist temples. Nice views of the Tibetan plateau can be seen from Listikot.

Day 6  Listikot – The Last Resort (Approx 1,250m)
It’s a steep down hill walk with steps through terraces for about 2 ½ hrs to The Last Resort, where a shower and lunch buffet await you. After lunch a massage and sauna could revitalize your tired body and a cold beer in a hammock is a perfect end to the day.
